- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Yolanda S. Bean -- A Terrific Re-Imagining! : For years now, I have read and greatly enjoyed Russell's novels. Recently, he has turned to more historical mysteries and this re-imagining of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel is fantastic. It feels fresh and exciting. There are secret societies, murders most horrific - and of course, it delves into the duality of human nature. It's fast-paced and quite well-written. - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Ronald Hogg -- It could have been five : I have read and enjoyed most of Craig Russell and indeed i was enjoying this one which is unlike anything I've read until he started in with the politics . Ok from centuries past but when he came right up to date , I couldn't wait to finish the book. I found it dreadfully repetitive as if we were being brainwashed. It's a shame because however farfetched it was different, but I refuse to pay for some Scottish patriot drumming his views into the reader. I was waiting a long time for this to come out and became lost in its world very quickly. What you think you know about the story, and about reality, is turned on its head and even to the end, there is still a nagging doubt. The character of Hyde walks off the page.
